The residents of Osage Township now have a safe place of refuge in the event of severe weather. One of the benefits of the 2008 construction project was the addition of a new tornado shelter. The shelter measures 18 x 23 and is constructed of 8 inch thick steel reinforced concrete walls/ceiling and is supported by 18 inches of steel reinforced concrete. The new storm shelter is able to withstand winds greater than 200 mph.
In the event of severe weather, the storm shelter will be opened for public use. If the building has not been opened and you feel there is a need to seek immediate shelter, call 911.
